When you are preparing your house to, there are a few inexpensive things you can do. First, declutter and clear off your surfaces. Your rooms will look larger if the countertops are clean and clear. Second, a fresh neutral coat of paint. New paint really spruces up the look and feel of the house. Third, make sure the house smells clean. If you have pets, ask a friend to give their honest opinion of the smell. Make sure you are not just covering the smell up or add an overwhelming fragrance. You may have to have the carpets cleaned to neutralize the smell.  Finally, freshen up the front exterior of the house. This is the first thing a prospective buyer sees, so pull the weeds, mow the grass, pressure wash the house, etc. Take a weekend and spend some time on the front of the house to give the buyers a positive first impression.
