Prepping to Buy a New Home

Posted OnJun 10, 2019

5 Things To Do When Preparing to Buy a Home

  1. Meet with a lender.

Talking with a lender before house hunting is crucial. They can work with you to determine a comfortable price range and give you any tips and tricks on saving, and also what NOT to do right before purchasing a new home (any big purchases, save that new car for later!!)

  1. Establish a working relationship with a trusted Realtor.

It’s important to choose a Realtor that you trust. Communication is key in this business! We recommend the Bekah Cochran Team for all of your Real Estate needs. Let us do the hard work for you!

  1. Make a list of Needs, Wants, and Must-Have items you desire in your new home with your Realtor.

If you are married, make sure you and your spouse are on the same page with what you are looking for. Then, make sure your Realtor knows all of your wants and needs for your new home. Also, any deal breakers are important for them to know! Having these open conversations can save a lot of time on the front end!

  1. Location, Location, Location.

Choose your desired location and have your Realtor educate you on the current market in that area. If houses are selling very quickly, you need to prepare yourself to make a quick offer.

  1. Check your emotions at the door.

Buying a house can be an emotional process, from putting in an offer, negotiating with the seller, and getting to the closing table you will likely feel many emotions throughout the process. Being emotional is very normal! Let it out when you need to, but try not to let it get in the way of closing on your dream home. Again, we recommend the Bekah Cochran Team to help you with all Real Estate needs.
