FUN AND EASY WAYS TO HELP THE COMMUNITY THIS HOLIDAY SEASON

Posted OnDec 13, 2017

This Holiday Season it is easy to get caught up in the madness with presents, decorating, and family/social obligations. Here is a list of opportunities for you to give money, time, or resources to help those less fortunate than ourselves this year:

1) Chattanooga Community Kitchen: Not only does this ministry serve the homeless with food and shelter, they also help direct their clients to other services that they can utilize for help.  Call to find out what their most urgent needs are this season (423) 756.4222 , or visit the web site to learn more about volunteering, http://community-kitchen.org/

2) Chattanooga Food Bank: CFB has so many different opportunities to help serve and support those less fortunate.  http://www.chattfoodbank.org/

3) Widow’s Harvest Ministries: Since 1987 Widow’s Harvest has served the widows in the Chattanooga community through prayer, home repairs and yard upkeep.  Located in St. Elmo, this organization is dear and so sweet!  Find out more by visiting their website: http://www.widows.org/

4) Toys for Tots: One that needs little explanation is Toys for Tots here in Chattanooga, a charity that is organized and executed by our very brave U. S. Marine Corps Reserve.  Find drop locations and other opportunities to participate by going to their web site: https://chattanooga-tn.toysfortots.org/local-coordinator-sites/lco-sites/default.aspx

5) Chattanooga Room in the Inn: Specifically helps women and children experiencing homelessness to become self-sufficient by offering a temporary home while providing programs and services necessary to meet their goals.  Learn more by visiting their site: https://www.chattanoogaroomintheinn.com/

6) Chambliss Center: The Chambliss Center serves the foster and adoptive children in our Chattanooga area.  They are always in need of volunteers, items for the children, and monetary support.  Visit their website to see how you can help this amazing organization, https://www.chamblisscenter.org/

7) Blessing Bags: One real practical way to help those less fortunate than ourselves this year is by making Blessing Bags for the homeless. It’s a great family activity!  You can make a list of supplies, shop with your family and assemble the bags together.  You can keep in the car to give out as needed (please see attached examples).
