CHATTANOOGA-AREA FARMERS MARKETS
The Chattanooga area is different than a lot of other cities but different in a good way. Locals feel strongly about supporting their local farmers and craft-artists, often turning out in big numbers to show their support at the many different farmers markets in the area. As a rule, none of the food and merchandise available at market is store-bought or made elsewhere – whether you want local-grown fresh meat, fresh-made cheeses, or freshly picked vegetables of all kinds, you will find it at the markets. You will also find plants and freshly-made floral arrangements; baked goods; homemade dog treats; craft booths; handmade jewelry; artwork; and even homemade lotions and soaps. Some of the larger markets will also include live music to showcase some of the local talent.
Some of the smaller markets are open weekly, year-round, at various locations around Chattanooga. For instance, Main Street Market is open on Wednesdays, while the Ooltewah Farmers Market is open on Thursdays. Chattanooga Market, locally known as “Chatt Market”, is open Sundays from April through December and is the region’s largest farmers market. River Market is open on Saturdays and the Collegedale Market is open Sundays and Wednesday afternoons, both in the larger market category.
Whether you are new to the area or have lived in Chattanooga all your life, check them out!
