One of our favorite things about downtown Chattanooga is the TN Aquarium. While a membership has many perks, there are also several activities in and around the complex that are free or cheap.
Here’s my super saving trip:
#1 Parking: Depending on when you get there, park at a metered spot on Riverfront Parkway (don’t let the kids get out on the traffic side). Metered spots are about $2 for 2 hours (or something like that). Set your timer on your phone, head out and don’t forget to plan to feed your meter if you need to 🙂
#2 Just up the hill from the metered spots is a great grassy area great for picnics or rolling down the hill.
#3 If you are an Aquarium member and plan to go in the Aquarium, early in the morning or late in the afternoon are the best times to go.
#4 The whole Aquarium plaza has a water feature that is great fun for the kids to play – for free.
#5 Just around the corner from the Ocean Journey (salt water) building, under the Market Street Bridge are the water stairs, another free and super fun attraction for everyone.
#6 You can access the river walk at the cross over Market Street by Ocean Journey building. This is a great way to see a little or a lot of the many special attractions and destinations downtown has to offer!!
I hope you enjoy it as much as we do!!
