So I am a “less is more” kind of gal, but even as a Realtor in the field for 10 years, I can find it hard to see the potential bones of a property if the décor is overwhelming.
When it comes to listing your home, here are a few trends that I would like to see take a permanent vacation:
1) Cheap rod iron art, often times it is tacky and needs to be removed.
2) Fake plants/flowers all over a house. A few real plants can add to the staging but box up those fake ones.
3) Although we all love all of our family, miss-matched pictures with miss-matched frames should be kept in a scrap book for memories not as the focal spot in your living room.
4) And please remove those wall decals and wall designs. A clean canvas is key.
When you are ready to list, a clean, inviting space is the key to letting a potential buyer see themselves in your house!
